About the company

Our client is a law firm.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Lead real estate deals from signing through closing as part of a small, collaborative team of attorneys. The work centers on preparing and negotiating transaction paperwork, keeping timelines on track and coordinating the many parties involved, with ongoing mentoring and training from senior lawyers.

What you'll do

- Prepare and manage the execution of property purchases, sales, partnerships and layered financing transactions.

- Write and negotiate the core agreements for each deal, including sale contracts, partnership agreements, lending paperwork and entity governance documents.

- Partner with senior attorneys and outside counsel to carry matters from signing to closing.

- Keep deals on schedule while coordinating lenders, investors and other counterparties across several funding sources.

- Attend regular internal training sessions and learn directly from experienced practitioners.

- Help build a growing practice that handles sophisticated, mission-driven work.

Requirements

What we're looking for

- 3 to 5 years of transactional real estate experience at a law firm, with most of your career spent on commercial property deals.

- Experience at a law firm; a purely in-house background does not meet the bar.

- A meaningful role on acquisitions, sales, joint ventures or financing matters.

- A track record advising property owners or developers on commercial or multifamily projects.

- A JD from an accredited law school.

- Strong skills in preparing and revising real estate deal documents.

- Ability to help steer a transaction from start to finish and quickly assume ownership of matters.

- Familiarity with complex, multi-layered financing arrangements.

- A collaborative, high-energy approach and enjoyment of working in person with colleagues.

- Eagerness to learn from senior attorneys.

- Comfort with an annual billable target of at least 1,750 hours, with actual hours expected closer to 1850-1900.

- Availability to work in the office Monday through Thursday.

Bonus points

- Prior exposure to affordable housing or tax credit transactions.

- Working knowledge of tax-credit-based financing.

- Background in M&A or tax law, provided most of your career has been in commercial real estate.

- A strong academic record or a well-regarded law school.

Benefits

Compensation and benefits

- Base salary: USD 190,000 to 260,000 per year

Location and work model

- New York City, NY, United States
