About the company
Our client is an energy technology company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Take early power electronics prototypes through design, simulation and lab validation until they become testable, deployable hardware. The role is highly hands-on and covers the full hardware lifecycle, from circuit design and bring-up to coordinating with outside manufacturing partners.
What you'll do
- Turn rough lab-scale prototypes into structured, testable and customer-ready hardware.
- Design high-voltage DC power conversion, switching and distribution circuits using modern semiconductor devices.
- Model and simulate electrical, thermal and system behavior, and iterate designs quickly.
- Lead hands-on bring-up, debugging and characterization of high-power hardware in the lab.
- Use AI tools and simulation aids to speed up design, testing and iteration.
- Coordinate circuit board fabrication, component sourcing and packaging with external partners.
- Make practical design trade-offs across performance, thermals, reliability and manufacturability.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- Sound judgment when balancing electrical, thermal and mechanical constraints against each other.
- Track record of carrying a hardware build from early prototype to verified system, covering design through lab testing and revision.
- Skilled at using electrical simulators to test how circuits behave.
- Practical know-how building gate-drive circuits for rapid switching stages.
- Formal training in electrical engineering, or demonstrated competence with power electronics.
- Regular use of AI tools, such as agents and models, in your day-to-day workflow.
- Located in or willing to relocate to Detroit, MI.
Bonus points
- Background in electrification or renewable energy domains.
- Familiarity with power conversion hardware operating at elevated voltages.
- Proven curiosity shown through side projects, such as student motorsport design.
