About FIRY
We build companies that help people create, compete, and grow.
FIRY (NYSE: FIRY) is a founder-led global holding company built to fuel business potential. Founded in 2012 by entrepreneur Andrew Paradise, FIRY began by inventing an entirely new category: real-money skill-based mobile gaming. What started as a single bold idea became Skillz, a platform with more than 90 million registered users and one of the largest sources of first-party behavioral data in gaming.
Today, FIRY is building something much bigger.
We’re creating a portfolio of category-defining businesses operating at the intersection of AI, identity, gaming, commerce, and performance marketing. Each business is successful on its own. Together, they create a flywheel of technology, data, and distribution that’s difficult to replicate.
- Skillz: The competition platform that pioneered real-money skill-based gaming and continues to power millions of competitive experiences while generating unique behavioral insights.
- RZR: Our AI-native performance advertising platform, rebuilt from first principles and profitable for three consecutive quarters, helping brands acquire customers more intelligently.
- Beamable: The infrastructure powering the next generation of live games, giving developers everything they need to build, operate, and scale online experiences.
FIRY is publicly traded on the NYSE and headquartered in Las Vegas, with hubs in San Francisco, New York City, and Bengaluru.
We’re still early.
We’re looking for builders who want to create products that define industries—not simply compete in them.
About the Role
FIRY is looking for an exceptional early-career public relations or communications candidate to join the Communications team as a Public Relations Associate. You’ll train directly with the Head of Brand Communications and work alongside the Office of the CEO and leaders across the business. You’ll learn how a public company develops its narrative, prepares executives, earns attention, and communicates with precision when every word matters.
You won’t spend your first year observing from the sidelines. With close coaching and structured review, you’ll draft CEO communications, executive remarks, press releases, thought leadership, media pitches, briefing materials, award submissions, and other communications assets. As your judgment and fluency grow, you’ll take on more visible assignments and greater independence, from serving as a first-draft writer to owning key work streams for the function.
This role is built to grow with the company. Over time, it will deepen its connection to the media, agency, financial, and creative communities.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a first-draft writer for internal CEO memos, all-hands messaging, leadership updates, executive remarks, talking points, Q&A, and briefing materials.
- Draft press releases and announcement materials. Own the release calendar, assemble review packets, and coordinate routing across Communications, Legal, Investor Relations, Product, and other partners.
- Build and maintain segmented media lists, research reporters and outlets, draft and send targeted pitches with approval, and help prepare executives for media engagements.
- Ghostwrite bylined articles and other executive content in the voice and point of view of the leader whose name appears on the work.
- Own the executive awards and speaking pipeline, from opportunity research through nomination drafting and submission.
- Maintain executive bios, corporate boilerplate, fact sheets, proof points, and the corporate messaging house, with regular accuracy reviews.
- Track earned coverage and message pull-through, and apply the findings to future releases, pitches, and executive materials.
- Use AI tools thoughtfully to improve research, drafting, editing, and variant generation, while staying fully accountable for accuracy, confidentiality, judgment, and voice. Help document workflows the team can reuse.
Key Competencies
- Writing craft: Produces clean prose on deadline and adapts voice to an executive speaker or a wire release without losing clarity.
- Ghostwriting instinct: Disappears into someone else’s voice. The executive’s memo should read like the executive wrote it.
- Coachability: Takes heavy edits without defensiveness and applies the correction to the next draft. This is the strongest predictor of success in the role.
- Discretion: Handles pre-announcement, personnel, and financial material without leakage.
- Editorial judgment: Has a growing sense of what’s newsworthy, what’s defensible, and what a company with a ticker symbol shouldn’t say in public.
- Learn and be curious: Builds product and business fluency fast enough to write with authority about subjects that were new three months earlier.
- Deliver results: Manages multiple memos, releases, pitches, and remarks against fixed deadlines.
- Tooling fluency: Uses AI tooling to increase throughput while staying fully accountable for accuracy.
Experience
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Political Science, Marketing, or a closely related field, completed by your start date.
- Up to one year of professional communications experience. Internships, agency work, newsroom roles, student agencies, campus publications, and research centers all count.
- A portfolio of strong writing. Bylines, journalism, agency work, executive-style writing, press materials, campaign work, or independent publication may all qualify.
- Demonstrated ability to write in a voice other than your own and move between formats without losing clarity.
- Exceptional attention to factual accuracy, grammar, audience, and deadlines.
- The maturity and discretion to handle pre-announcement, personnel, financial, and executive information.
- Familiarity with AI writing and research tools, with a point of view on where they help and where they fall short.
Total Starting Compensation including Base + Bonus: $82,846
Location: Onsite in Las Vegas, NV
