This role is responsible for managing all aspects of project performance, including safety, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, subcontractor coordination, quality control, and client relationships. The ideal candidate has a strong background in electrical construction and mission-critical environments, with the leadership skills necessary to manage complex projects where schedule adherence, system reliability, and quality are essential.

The Project Manager will work closely with field leadership, general contractors, owners, engineers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and closeout of large-scale data center and mission-critical electrical construction projects.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, cost forecasts, schedules, procurement plans, and execution strategies.
  • Establish project milestones and monitor progress to ensure deliverables align with contractual requirements.
  • Coordinate with project superintendents, general foremen, field personnel, and subcontractors to support successful project execution.
  • Identify project risks, resolve challenges, and implement corrective actions to maintain schedule and budget performance.
  • Manage multiple project phases simultaneously, from preconstruction through commissioning and final turnover.

Financial & Contract Management

  • Monitor project financial performance, including labor productivity, material costs, equipment expenses, change orders, and cost-to-complete projections.
  • Review contracts, specifications, drawings, and scope documents to identify risks, exclusions, and potential cost impacts.
  • Manage change orders, requests for information (RFIs), submittals, and other project documentation.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to improve project profitability while maintaining quality and client satisfaction.
  • Provide regular project status updates, forecasts, and financial reporting to leadership.

Mission-Critical Construction Coordination

  • Coordinate electrical construction activities involving critical power infrastructure, including medium- and low-voltage distribution, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, and associated electrical systems, as applicable to project scope.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, controls, fire protection, security, and other trade partners to ensure proper integration of building systems.
  • Support commissioning planning, equipment startup, functional testing, integrated systems testing, and turnover activities.
  • Maintain awareness of the stringent safety, quality, redundancy, and reliability requirements associated with mission-critical facilities.
  • Coordinate equipment procurement and delivery schedules to mitigate long-lead material risks and prevent construction delays.

Client & Stakeholder Relationships

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for owners, general contractors, engineering teams, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Lead project meetings, communicate progress, resolve issues, and maintain alignment across project teams.
  • Build strong working relationships that support client satisfaction, repeat business, and long-term partnerships.
  • Communicate project risks, schedule changes, financial performance, and key decisions to internal and external stakeholders.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure work is performed in accordance with company policies, project requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Support quality assurance and quality control processes to ensure installations meet design specifications and industry standards.
  • Ensure project documentation, inspections, testing records, and turnover packages are completed accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate with field leadership to address quality concerns and maintain project execution standards.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of project management experience in electrical construction, commercial construction, or mission-critical environments preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex electrical construction projects with significant budgets, schedules, and coordination requirements.
  • Previous experience with data center construction or other mission-critical facilities strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of electrical construction practices, project controls, cost management, scheduling, and contract administration.
  • Experience managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, and project documentation.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and technical documents.
  • Proficiency with project management and scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Procore, or comparable platforms.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Willingness to travel and work at project sites as required.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience delivering hyperscale data centers, colocation facilities, or other high-availability infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with critical power systems, electrical distribution, backup power, and redundant system architectures.
  • Experience supporting commissioning, startup, and integrated systems testing.
  • Experience working with major general contractors, owners, engineering firms, and mission-critical vendors.
  • Knowledge of lean construction practices, project scheduling, labor forecasting, and productivity tracking.
