Fullstack Engineer - UI Tools

Kodiak Robotics, Inc. was founded in 2018 and has become a leader in autonomous ground transportation committed to a safer and more efficient future for all. The company has developed an artificial intelligence (AI) powered technology stack purpose-built for commercial trucking and the public sector. The company delivers freight daily for its customers across the southern United States using its autonomous technology. In 2024, Kodiak became the first known company to publicly announce delivering a driverless semi-truck to a customer. Kodiak is also leveraging its commercial self-driving software to develop, test and deploy autonomous capabilities for the U.S. Department of Defense.

We are looking for an Engineer who will be developing, supporting, maintaining, and evolving 2D and 3D visualization tools for autonomous vehicle development and testing. You have curiosity in AV perception and planning, and enjoy breaking down and presenting complex data in an intuitive, efficient, and effective manner. The role’s focus will be deploying tools into production with minimal disruption. This is an opportunity to work collaboratively across multiple teams and leadership within Kodiak. 

In this role, you will:

• Participate in building our tooling suite, proactively identifying opportunities to improve performance and scaling our 2D and 3D visualization capabilities as our fleet grows.
• Build intuitive interfaces in ReactJS, TypeScript, and Three.js that translate complex AV sensor data into actionable insights for our engineering teams.
• Partner directly with Software Engineering, Quality, and Operations to deeply understand their workflows, transforming user feedback into high-impact features.
• Champion code quality and documentation, helping us evolve our infrastructure as we push the boundaries of long-haul autonomous trucking.

Qualifications:

• Strong technical background as evidenced by BS, MS, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline.
• 2+ years of experience building intuitive fullstack applications.
• Solid understanding of TypeScript, ReactJS, HTML, CSS, and related web technologies.
• Experience with modern 2D and 3D JavaScript libraries and tooling, esp. Three.js
• Experience with app profiling and performance tuning.
• Experience working with time series robotics data such as Rosbags or mcaps
• Experience building and maintaining backend services and APIs.
• Great communicator; you must be capable of writing clear, concise, and detailed documentation.
