Forward Deployed Engineer

Our client is a government technology company.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. This forward deployed engineer role combines hands-on software development with client-facing deployment work. The person rolls out and integrates software within client organizations, builds working relationships with the people who rely on it, and contributes code back to the core product. The role involves frequent travel and a high degree of independence in planning and carrying out work.

What you'll do

- Install and integrate a software product within client organizations.

- Build and sustain relationships with client leaders and their legal and operational teams.

- Write and ship production code to the core product.

- Respond to user feedback and turn it into product improvements.

- Grow user adoption and account value through direct client engagement.

- Plan your own travel and deployment schedules.

Requirements

What we're looking for

- Track record of getting working code into a live product across the stack.

- 2 to 4 years of experience.

- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and SQL databases.

- Charisma and an outgoing manner for building relationships with public officials and enterprise clients.

- Strong work ethic and the capacity to sustain very long hours and heavy travel, up to five days a week.

- Strong character, sharp reasoning and self-motivation at a top level.

- Willing to work in person in the Austin, TX office when not traveling.

- US citizenship required.

Bonus points

- Experience deploying AI or machine learning systems in government or highly regulated settings.

- Experience with AI or machine learning tooling or large language model systems.

- Prior forward deployed engineering experience or work at an AI model provider.

- Startup founder or early startup employee background.

- Computer science degree with startup or hackathon experience.
