Job description
Quoted in full from Eudia's job posting. Gavroche does not edit it.
At Eudia, we move fast. Unlike traditional enterprise software companies, our teams ship solutions in days, not months—delivering real impact for some of the world’s largest companies, including Cargill, Coherent, DHL, and Duracell. We’re solving one of the most complex, unsolved challenges in AI: bringing trust, accuracy, and security to legal automation.
We’re a team of builders, operators, and problem-solvers who are passionate about reshaping an industry that has long been resistant to change. If you’re looking for a place where you’ll be challenged, take ownership from day one, and work alongside some of the brightest minds in AI and legal—we’d love to meet you.
The role
Eudia is hiring a Controller to own the accounting function and build it for scale. You will run the close, the audit and the controls for our entire business. You will also consolidate and sign off on financials for our international entities and multiple business units.
This is a player-coach role. You will lead and develop the accounting team while staying hands-on in the work. You will be a collaborative and supportive teammate to the rest of the business. You will build the policies, controls and systems that carry Eudia from Series A and beyond.
Job description
You will own Eudia's books end to end and build the accounting function for our next stage of growth.
Close and reporting
- Own the monthly, quarterly and annual close for the US business.
- Consolidate and sign off on financials for our international entities and multiple business units.
- Manage intercompany accounting, eliminations and foreign currency across the group.
- Build a fast, repeatable close calendar.
- Deliver monthly financial statements and reporting packages to leadership.
Revenue and technical accounting
- Set and own revenue recognition policy under ASC 606 across subscription, consumption and services revenue.
- Write technical accounting memos for new pricing models, including outcome-based AI pricing.
- Own policies for commissions, capitalized software and leases.
- Define the cost of revenue policy for AI inference, model API and hosting costs.
- Partner with Sales and Legal to review contract terms before signature.
Audit, controls and compliance
- Lead the annual financial statement audit
- Design, document and test internal controls that scale with the business.
- Oversee tax compliance with external advisors, including income, sales and use, and international tax.
- Drive accounting and compliance for government contracts as our public sector business scales.
Equity, investors and board
- Own equity administration, including the cap table, 409A valuations and stock-based compensation.
- Prepare investor and board reporting.
- Support fundraising and due diligence.
Team, systems and operations
- Lead and develop the accounting team as a hands-on player-coach.
- Hire and scale the team as the company grows.
- Own the finance systems stack, including the ERP, billing, spend management and payroll integrations.
- Reconcile usage data to billing and the general ledger end to end.
- Use AI and automation to remove manual work from the close.
- Oversee accounts payable, billing, collections, payroll accounting and cash management.
Requirements
We are looking for a CPA with 10+ years of experience, Big Four training and hands-on controllership at a SaaS and AI company, including building the function at a startup.
Required
- 10+ years of accounting experience, including time in Big Four public accounting.
- An active CPA license.
- Controller-level experience at a venture-backed SaaS company.
- Experience building the controllership function from scratch at a startup.
- Deep revenue recognition expertise for SaaS and AI consumption-based pricing under ASC 606.
- A track record of owning the monthly close and leading external audits.
- Experience consolidating multi-entity financials, including international entities.
- Experience with investor reporting, board reporting and equity management.
- A track record of leading and developing an accounting team as a player-coach.
- Experience implementing and managing modern finance systems, including ERP, usage-based billing and AI automation tools.
- A collaborative, can-do attitude
- Based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Nice to have
- Experience with government contracts, including FAR and GSA schedule requirements.
- Experience with SOX implementation, IPO readiness or public company reporting.
Compensation: $230,000 to $275,000 base salary
