AI Engineering Lead

About the company

Our client is a fast-growing Series A compliance software company that uses AI to help investment advisers and broker-dealers monitor communications, marketing, accounts and filings for regulatory risk. It has about $11 million in ARR and a team of about 60, and it is growing quickly.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. You will lead the company's AI efforts and set their technical direction, working directly with the founding team and the head of engineering. The AI roadmap includes a conversational assistant for running a compliance program, AI review of incoming communications, and a push toward a fully agentic product. You will own the architecture behind all of it.

What you'll do

- Review the existing AI systems in your first weeks, decide what to fix, and implement the changes yourself.

- Own the AI architecture for the whole product: the agent harness, memory, context management and token efficiency.

- Deploy meaningful improvements to the AI experiences in your first month.

- Pay close attention to scaling as more clients come on.

- Hire and mentor new team members.

Requirements

What we're looking for

- Experience building and deploying agentic experiences with real users, owning logging, labeling and evals end to end.

- Experience shipping production-ready backend Python.

- Experience in a fast-paced startup environment.

- 6 or more years of engineering experience.

- Clear communication and strong problem solving.

- A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field.

Bonus points

- Experience applying machine learning in regulatory technology or the legal space.

- Experience at a company built agent-first rather than one that added agents later.

- Base salary: USD 240,000 to 340,000 per year
