We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant – General Ledger & Financial Reporting to support general ledger accounting, financial close activities, reconciliations, and controllership processes. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting fundamentals, hands-on experience with journal entries and accruals, and familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar financial platforms.

This role is suited for a finance professional who values accuracy, maintains strong financial controls, and can manage multiple accounting activities while meeting reporting deadlines.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare, review, and post journal entries in accordance with accounting policies and procedures.
• Perform general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and coordinate their resolution.
• Prepare and review accruals, provisions, and other accounting adjustments.
• Maintain and monitor general ledger accounts to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Assist with financial reporting, account analysis, and controllership activities.
• Analyse account balances and provide explanations for variances identified during financial close cycles.
• Ensure accounting transactions are accurately recorded and maintained within ERP systems.
• Follow established internal controls, accounting standards, and financial procedures.
• Collaborate with finance and cross-functional teams to resolve accounting queries and discrepancies.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Maintain organised and accurate accounting records for reporting and audit purposes.
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows, strengthen controls, and improve process efficiency.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the finance and accounting function.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• 2+ years of relevant experience in accounting, general ledger operations, financial reporting, or controllership support.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, such as B.Com, M.Com, or MBA Finance.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting principles and financial accounting processes.
• Hands-on experience with journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, provisions, and financial adjustments.
• Experience supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
• Familiarity with financial reporting, account analysis, variance explanations, and controllership processes.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or other financial ERP platforms.
• Good understanding of accounting standards, internal controls, and financial documentation requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate financial records.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
