Business Analyst - Contractor

As a Business Analyst, you will lead small-to-medium projects while providing critical support for our most complex, large-scale initiatives. We are looking for a proactive problem-solver who thrives on collaboration and isn't afraid to dive into a challenge.

The ideal candidate will build and maintain strong relationships to ensure alignment across the business, working closely with developers to iterate working solutions. They will be able to manage their own workload with a high degree of independence with a good insight of their own expertise and capabilities. You will be expected to share best practices in order to advance the BA community.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will be an experienced and user-focused Business Analyst to join a multidisciplinary digital delivery team. You will play a key role in working with a user researcher to understand user needs, business problems and service requirements, translating these into clear and actionable outcomes for our software development teams.

Working in a GDS style agile environment, you will collaborate with User Researchers, Interaction Designers, Developers, Testers, Product Managers and Delivery Managers to design and deliver accessible, effective digital services throughout the Discovery, Alpha and Beta phases.

Must Haves

• Proven experience working as a Business Analyst in agile software development teams.
• Experience of user-centred design, service design or user research-led delivery
• Strong ability to understand and articulate user needs, business problems and desired outcomes
• Experience producing user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps and requirements documentation
• Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary digital delivery teams
• Ability to facilitate workshops, interviews and stakeholder discussions
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex problems
• Experience of working with Product Managers, User Researchers, Designers, Developers and Testers
• Ability to prioritise and manage competing requirements in a changing environment
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Understanding of evidence-based decision making

Nice to haves:

• Experience working in the Ministry of Defence (MOD) or similar secure environments.

• Contract Length: Initially 6 months with possible extension
• Location: Portsmouth
• On Site Requirements: 2-3 days per sprint (fortnight)
• Minimum Security Level: SC
• Day Rate: £480
