Job description
Quoted in full from Visium SA's job posting. Gavroche does not edit it.
Visium combines strategy, frontier AI, and deep regulated-industry expertise to build and deploy AI-native systems that reinvent how businesses operate - unlocking the value of AI at scale.
We're not a strategy firm that ships slide decks and walks away. Not a tech consultancy that builds what won't get adopted. Not a product company chasing problems it doesn't understand. We're all three at once: strategy, deep technical and integration expertise, and product, working as one. That combination is our flywheel. Consulting keeps us close to the hardest real-world problems. Products let us solve them at scale. Every engagement sharpens our products; every deployment makes the next engagement faster, deeper, and more certain.
We're obsessed with outcomes. While 95% of enterprise AI pilots never reach production, Visium is built to be the 5% delivering productised AI that compounds in value, not point solutions that deliver marginal gains. We are AI-native, not AI-adjacent. We don't bolt AI onto broken workflows; we redesign them with AI at the core.
Role
As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer, you will own the most technically complex and high-impact projects from conceptualization over architecture design to production deployment.
You will:
- Set direction for a technical team, ensuring architectural excellence and long-term solution maintainability.
- Lead and mentor junior and senior engineers, raising the technical bar across projects.
- Stay hands-on with high quality code contributions to data processing, modeling and deployment pipelines while delegating effectively.
- Partner with clients to translate complex business challenges into clear technical roadmaps and deliver measurable business outcomes.
- Drive adoption of modern ML best practices and state-of-the-art methodology from system design and architecture over modelling to MLOps.
You are not only passionate about machine learning, but also about shaping how data-driven insights create value for our clients. You thrive in dynamic environments, balancing hands-on technical work with strategic decision-making and team leadership.
This role goes beyond building models: you will be responsible for technical strategy, quality standards and growing engineering talent, shaping the future of our ML delivery practice.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you bring a combination of expertise, experience, and skills including:
- 6 - 8 years of experience in machine learning, data science, or related fields.
- Proficiency in Python programming.
- Expertise in ML/DL libraries and frameworks (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch).
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, Power BI, Tableau, D3.js).
- Deep learning experience (e.g., RNNs, CNNs) and strong knowledge of clustering, regression, and classification methods.
- Experience in designing, developing, and deploying LLM-based applications, including RAG systems, with a strong understanding of prompt engineering, vector databases, and knowledge retrieval pipelines.
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments, REST APIs, and microservices.
- Experience with ML deployment, production pipelines, and scalable architectures on platforms such as AzureML, AWS and GCP.
- Experience with Data and AI platforms (Databricks, Dataiku, Snowflake). Certifications are a plus.
- Demonstrated technical and project leadership, with the ability to guide complex initiatives and deliver results.
- Strong mentorship skills and experience managing or coaching teams to reach their full potential.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, capable of bridging technical and business perspectives.
- Fluent in English, French is a plus.
