Job description

Quoted in full from Fuse Energy's job posting. Gavroche does not edit it.

Fuse is an AI-first energy company on a mission to make energy abundant and affordable, fast. We combine first-principles thinking with cutting-edge technology to build a radically better energy system.

We've raised over $200M from top-tier investors including Balderton, Lakestar, Accel, Creandum, Lowercarbon, Ribbit, 20VC, Hummingbird and Collaborative Fund, alongside strategic angels including Nico Rosberg and GPs behind Meta, Revolut, Spotify and Uber.

We're building a fully integrated energy company: developing our own solar, batteries and other generation projects, building our own hardware, improving and developing grid infrastructure, trading power in real time, and installing distributed energy in homes. By selling directly to consumers, we cut out the middleman, lower costs and pass the savings on to our customers.

As part of this mission, we are looking for a Legal Counsel to join our team in Spain. You will play a key role in supporting our commercial, corporate, and regulatory workstreams as we expand rapidly across multiple jurisdictions. This is an opportunity to join an ambitious startup at the forefront of the energy transition and help shape the legal foundations of a new kind of energy company.

Responsibilities

  • Own deal flow: Review, draft, and negotiate MSAs, product order forms, and supplier/customer/technology agreements. Flag risks early and land practical, business-friendly solutions.
  • Drive product forward: Translate legal and regulatory requirements into clear guidance for new product lines. Research regulatory requirements and use them to develop product specs. Review designs end-to-end to ensure they are launch-ready and compliant.
  • Embed with the business: Provide crisp, day-to-day advice to Operations, Finance, Trading, and Product. Turn complex issues into simple decisions and help teams move fast with confidence.
  • Support UK and cross-border compliance, coordinate filings and regulatory submissions, and maintain policies, registers, and training so everything is inspection-ready without roadblocking the business.
  • Build scalable infrastructure: Create and refine templates, clause libraries, playbooks, and best practices. Streamline workflows and automate the routine so the team can focus on the high-impact work.

Requirements

  • Qualified solicitor in Spain (or equivalent common law jurisdiction)
  • Fluency in Spanish and strong professional English, both written and spoken.
  • 5+ years of post-qualification experience, ideally with a mix of law firm and in-house exposure
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while balancing multiple projects
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Enthusiasm for renewable energy, decentralisation, and technology-driven change

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and eligibility for equity
  • Biannual bonus scheme
  • Fully expensed tech to match your needs
  • Private health insurance
  • Breakfast and dinner allowance for office-based employees

As we hire globally, benefits vary by location.
